Elephant Man (John HUTT) is a natural deformity patient. His face looks like an elephant's face, so it is named. 

Elephant man has been used by the circus owner who is obsessed with profit. He has been taken to tour all over the world and has been subjected to inhuman abuse. 

Celebrities will feel incredible what elephant people have experienced, but the optimistic and strong elephant people bear it.

Until once, the elephant man met a young British doctor (Anthony Hopkins). Out of compassion and the doctor's integrity, he signed an "adoption" agreement with the circus owner bass (Freddie Jones) and took the elephant man back to the hospital for research.
